This role requires the ability to work independently, with a passion for connecting and networking in the community, and the ability to create and facilitate presentations to various audiences. This position will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and evaluating all outreach activities for the departments to ensure efficacy and impact of their duties.
Job Description:Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Schedules and coordinates assigned events within budgetary limits.
- Monitors and directs the events from beginning to end.
- Plans, develops, and implements community outreach, outreach strategies, and programs
- Represents department and City of Austin programs at events.
- Assembles resources, including staff, facilities, food services, promotional material, etc., for assigned events.
- Cross-trains program staff to adequately represent all department programs to the public.
- Develops roles and calendar for community involvement.
- Participates on marketing teams to plan and deliver marketing events and media productions.
- Coordinates and monitors contracts, budgets, and performance measures for media advertising (print ads, television, radio, internet, billboards, etc.)
- Research, purchases, and monitors inventory of promotional items department wide.
- Develops and makes presentations to customers, service providers and department representatives.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of conference/community events processes.
- Knowledge of market segmentation, media markets, and experience in the media purchasing process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Experience conducting outreach efforts to marginalized communities.
- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective outreach events.
- Knowledge of lead generation within organizations to promote programming.
- Experience negotiating with various groups to accomplish objectives.
- Experience and preparing written and oral summaries, monitors and communicates results.
- Monitoring community activities and maintaining a calendar of events.
- Liaising with local businesses and community leaders to identify community needs and mobilize resources to meet those needs.
- Conducting research on community demographics and trends to identify areas in need of attention.
- Managing special events such as concerts or festivals that attract many people to the community.
- Maintaining relationships with local businesses and community leaders.
- Promoting awareness through community outreach activities such as hosting fairs or distributing flyers in local neighborhoods.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends as required - This position is categorized as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin. Essential staff are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled. Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations to maintain the safe delivery of electric service for the City of Austin.
- Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
- Employee may be required to work additional hours outside of regular work schedule.
