The position is in Prescott, Arizona, the beautiful region of Central Arizona. Yavapai County is one of the four original Arizona counties formed in 1864. Named after the Yavapai Tribe, whose name means the “people of the sun,” the County is just north of Phoenix and about 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon, featuring some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the American West. Major Duties, Responsibilities- Directs the development and administration of all human resource functions including policy and procedure administration, recruitment and selection, employee relations, classification and compensation, employee development and training, occupational safety and risk management, employee benefits, and personnel records management.
- Determines the goals, objectives, and operational priorities of the Human Resources and Risk Management Department.
- Provides guidance and coaching to department heads, supervisors, and County employees at all levels.
- Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines staff.
- Creates, evaluates, and revises policies and procedures.
- Acts as Custodian of Records for all County personnel records not held by other departments.
- Directs studies and surveys and recommends and implements appropriate revisions.
- Makes presentations to the Board of Supervisors, community groups, and professional associations.
- Directs the design, presentation, and evaluation of training programs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent.
Experience:A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, to include two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
