The Position Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is hiring for a Health & Human Services Professional Trainee. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 at the West Charleston Clinic or East Las Vegas Clinic. Advancement to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. Psychiatric Caseworkers assess and reassess clients' level of functioning by interviewing clients, family members, and other community contacts; evaluate clients' needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; refer clients to appropriate services according to the service/care coordination plan; and work as a team to provide service coordination, make referrals to other service providers and community resources, and discuss mental and emotional conditions among others. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree). Special Notes Some series may strictly require at least a bachelor's degree to qualify. Only applicants who possess a bachelor's or higher degree may be considered qualified for this class. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Applicants must have a current Driver's License. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal background and fingerprint check is required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
