The PositionAppraiser Aides support the Assessor’s Office by collecting, verifying, organizing, and processing information related to property assessments and exemption programs. Appraiser Aides may perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks, including field data collection, reviewing documents, updating assessment records, preparing worksheets, and assisting the public. Appraiser Aide positions may be made in Business Property, Real Property, or Exemptions depending on operational needs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of progressively responsible experience in property assessment functions in a County Assessor department or appropriate experience directly related to Assessor administration activities
OR t wo years of related experience in fields such as real estate sales or mortgage lending.
Education: Equivalent to two years of college level course work in economics, business administration, real estate principles, accounting, mathematics/statistics or a related field. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis).
License or Certificate*: Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy in the Assessor Division of the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Department. The list is established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

Supplemental questions will be scored by the subject matter experts. The most qualified applicants from the scoring of the supplemental questions will be invited for an Oral Panel Interview.
Oral Panel Exam
Tentatively scheduled for the week of January 12, 2026. The most qualified candidates from the oral panel exam will be placed on the eligibility list and may be considered to fill positions for up to one year.
