The Position Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position will be located in the Las Vegas office of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in the Rehabilitation division. The internship will be in the Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Instructor field. The intern will support certified O&M specialists in delivering mobility instruction and services to individuals with vision impairments. This internship provides hands-on experience in travel training, program documentation, evaluation reporting, and community engagement. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree related to the field of employment and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic graduate program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. Special Notes Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation. Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Additional Position Criteria Are you currently enrolled in a program of study for an Orientation and Mobility Instructor? Please attach verification of enrollment to your application.
