The Position Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is part of the ITS Planning and Operations section located in the Traffic Operations Division. The Professional Engineer is responsible for managing projects related to statewide highway operations, ITS Programs, and ITS planning efforts as well as for the development and implementation of statewide policy and operational guidance associated with highway operations and ITS Programs. This includes analyzing project performance measures, conducting cost/benefit analyses, and developing project performance reports as required. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) Special Notes A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment. Special Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
