Acceptable Experience and Training- Graduation from high school; and
- Two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, preferably including HVAC operations and maintenance experience; or
- Any equivalent combination in which education and experience are interchangeable at the rate of one year of education for one year of experience.
Required Special Qualifications- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Iowa.
Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)- Operates and maintains building, ventilating and air conditioning systems and auxiliary equipment.
- Performs the firing of boilers.
- Observes meters and gauges and adjusts and repairs equipment.
- Regulates fuel and water consumption and tests and treats water.
- Records data concerning operating hours, temperatures, pressure and fuel consumption and maintains operating log.
- Maintains general cleanliness of plant.
- Makes repairs and performs lubrication and preventive maintenance on a variety of building and custodial equipment.
- Repairs and replaces plumbing fixtures including stools, urinals, faucet traps, and hot water heaters.
- Assists in making electrical repairs.
- Removes snow from sidewalks and walkways.
- May aid and assist in supervising a crew of custodial workers; may perform custodial work as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
