    California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in the Inland Empire region of Southern California.     Job Summary

    The new faculty member will teach and develop curricula for upper division courses in the candidate’s area of expertise in addition to introductory and general chemistry courses. They will develop and maintain an independent and externally funded research program involving undergraduate students and contribute as appropriate to mentoring MS students in the MS Materials Science or MS Environmental Science programs. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in service-related activities at all levels of this institution.

    The new faculty member must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. They will work effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines. In addition, they are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University’s strategic plan.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred.
    • Research expertise and experience should be in an area of inorganic and/or physical chemistry, with an interest in materials science as a plus.
    • University-level teaching experience is preferred.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB.     ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is comprised of BA and BS Chemistry programs, each with a chemistry concentration and a biochemistry concentration. The BS programs are approved by the ACS. The Department also hosts an MS degree in Environmental Science and co-hosts a new MS degree in Materials Science.

    Assistant Professor (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224

    Associate Professor (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523

    Professor (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
