    An Administrative Assistant position is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department / Employment Services Section. As one of the largest departments in the City with more than 2,300 sworn and civilian employees, the Police Department offers a dynamic and fast-paced work environment where your contributions make a daily impact.

    This role is not your average Administrative Assistant job - you will play a key role in supporting our leadership team and performing a variety of complex tasks related to the Position Management Unit, Employee Services Unit, and Medical Records Unit. This position will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of both routine functions and special projects.     Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
    • Four (4) years of responsible clerical and administrative experience.
    • Must pass Drug Screen, Fingerprint background check, and Polygraph screening

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working with sworn civil service and law enforcement employees
    • Experience with PeopleSoft (ERP) or a similar human resources management system
    • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Excel; creating, updating and manipulating spreadsheets, building pivot tables, and linking data to other spreadsheets

    The Administrative Assistant job responsibilities include:
    • Assist the Position Management Unit (PMU) with movement of personnel, tracking.
    • Provide administrative support to both general employees and sworn police officers at all levels.
    • Assist in the administration of medical/leave related programs.
    • Respond to requests for information from supervisory staff, employees, or general public; conduct follow-up research to retrieve answers and support information.
    • Administrative Support for the Employment Specialists (primary for sworn employee actions, but also for civilian employee actions as needed).
    • Participate in special projects as assigned.

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

    Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

    Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
