    Position: Assistant Professor of Construction Engineering Management (AI-Driven Construction Technology and Automation)
    Effective Date: August 17, 2026 (Fall Semester)
    Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688/year; $6,221 to $13,224/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $103,000 to $106,000 annually, or $8583 to $8833 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field. Degree at the time of application or official notification by August 1, 2026.
    • B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
    • Specialization or research emphasis in AI-driven construction technology and automation, or a closely related field
    • Demonstrated potential for contributing to the success of a diverse student population
    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the college level
    • Demonstrated potential for successful research, scholarly, and creative activities
    • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • At least two years of effective teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and/or other related fields
    • Record of successful development of a research program
    • Demonstrated expertise in AI-driven construction technology and automation with a specialization in one or more areas, but not limited to, AI-driven project management and scheduling, machine learning for risk assessment and safety prediction, automation and robotics in construction processes, computer vision in the AEC industry, emerging technologies, predictive analytics, prefabrication and modular construction, sustainable design and construction, as well as digital twins and smart construction technologies
    • Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across teaching, scholarship, and service
    • Experience in curriculum development
    • Experience in student advising, mentoring, and supervision
    • Postdoctoral research or professional experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering
    • Registration or credentials such as a Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), etc.
    • Potential for industry engagement and collaboration
    • Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
    • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom

    Duties:
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, and/or Civil Engineering (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
    • Contribute to diversity and equity in education through scholarship, teaching, and/or service including advising, and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
    • Develop and update curriculum including new and existing courses related to the area of expertise
    • Maintain and engage in research and other scholarly activities related to the area of expertise leading to publications and presentations
    • Organize and supervise research facilities
    • Advise and mentor students
    • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community

    EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
