    The Position

    Mortgage Lending Examiners conduct examinations in the Mortgage Lending Division of the Department of Business & Industry. Incumbents examine and analyze the general ledger, assets, liabilities, capital, and internal controls of institutions to ensure compliance with all federal and State laws and regulations and safety and soundness for the public good.

    The Department of Business and Industry is recruiting to fill a Mortgage Lending Examiner 2 positions within the Division of Mortgage Lending in Las Vegas. The incumbent will conduct comprehensive examinations of licensed entities such as mortgage companies, escrow agencies, covered service providers, and mortgage servicers with a focus on ensuring compliance with Chapters 645A, 645B, and 645F of the Nevada Revised Statutes along with other relevant state and federal regulations. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating business practices, reviewing loan files for accuracy and legality, analyzing financial statements and licensing documentation, inspecting advertisements for deceptive content, and assessing internal controls and data security measures. The role also involves investigating complaints, verifying office conditions and signage, and ensuring proper supervision of mortgage agents. Travel is required up to 85% of the time, primarily within the Las Vegas Valley.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or other discipline related to the position and one year of increasingly responsible professional experience conducting audits and reviewing financial records and reports; OR graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Mortgage Lending Examiner I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
