    Job Description:

    Purpose:

    Under general supervision, this position performs work related to a financial, administrative or operational program within Fleet Services.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
    • Communicates program information to internal and external customers.
    • Coordinates division/section activities.
    • Assists in the development and monitoring of program budgets.
    • Assists in the development of short/long range plans.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures.
    • Determines program methodology.
    • Develops program schedule and define program milestones.
    • Ensures timely completion and meet deadlines of program.
    • Communicates program status, issues, and/or concerns with Fleet management and team members.
    • Provides technical advice and assistance to City management, field personnel, contractors, etc.
    • Provides quality assurance review to program deliverables.
    • Prepares and deliver presentations related to program.
    • Reviews and/or selects vendors and monitor contract compliance.


    Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

    May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others. May be responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
    • Knowledge of fleet operations is necessary, especially quality control methods, job standards, processing of work orders, pricing, labor hours, and equipment and materials.
    • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
    • Ability to interact with tact and courtesy and maintain a professional manner.
    • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
    • Ability to provide hands-on training to personnel.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of experience related to the operational, financial or administrative program supporting of which two (2) years which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:

    None.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Most essential duties are performed in an office environment with some interactions at Fleet's Service Centers with exposure to a variety of motorized equipment, components, parts, tires, tools, oils and lubricants, corrosive liquids, and other potentially hazardous materials.
    • May be exposed to loud noise, hot and cold conditions, and occasional stooping and bending.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Demonstrated experience working in the vehicle rental industry and/or mobility transportation industry
    • Knowledge of automotive and equipment rental industry
    • Demonstrated experience coordinating with multiple vendors for vehicle rentals and other transportation needs
    • Demonstrated experience processing invoices and monitoring contracts
    • Demonstrated experience with fleet asset software such as Assetworks or Faster
    • Knowledge of good customer relations practice.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
    • Commercial Driver's License with Passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Ability to travel to more than one work location

    Pay Range: $26.03 - $31.04

    Schedule:

    DAYS AND HOURS:

    Monday - Friday

    7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    Shift may change according to departmental needs. Additional work hours and/or working outside of normal business hours may be required as determined by operational needs.

    Location: 6400 Bolm Road and 1190 Hargrave

    The purpose of the position is to coordinate and support vehicle and equipment rental, car-sharing, and transportation mobility programs. The position will communicate and coordinate with both customers and vendors related to vehicle and equipment needs, and is responsible for monitoring issues and/or concerns with management and team members. This position will also coordinate our shuttle program for city assignments and special events.

    Shift may change according to departmental needs. Additional work hours and/or working outside of normal business hours may be required as determined by operational needs.

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Austin has a 10-1 council system with an at-large Mayor and Council Members that represent ten districts.
