    The Position

    Compliance/Enforcement Investigators perform investigative and enforcement functions to monitor compliance and enforce State and/or federal laws or regulations pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area.

    The Department of Business & Industry is recruiting to fill a Supervisory Compliance/Enforcement Investigator within the Enforcement Unit of the Nevada Taxicab Authority (TA) in Las Vegas. Under limited supervision of a Chief Investigator or Program Administrator, the incumbent will serve as a first-line supervisor and is tasked with independently conducing or monitoring investigative and enforcement functions, representing the TA at meetings and hearings, and conducting and monitoring investigations and enforcement actions related to state and/or federal laws and regulations under the TA's authority regarding taxicabs and the taxicab industry. The incumbent will provide training to investigators, prepare performance reviews, coordinate and supervise the investigation and enforcement process, and make recommendations to the Chief or Administrator regarding investigative reports and final determinations. The incumbent will utilize extensive knowledge of industry standards and case history in order to conduct the more complex casework assignments which are of a sensitive or high profile nature or that involve multiple violations or complaints. The incumbent will review initial complaints and assign cases to lower level investigators; direct and monitor staff regarding procedures and appropriate courses of action; and review final investigative reports for accuracy, clarity, and format to ensure policies and procedures are followed. The incumbent will assist in the development of program goals, objectives, plans, and budgets; recommend or develop new and revised policies and procedures or propose legislation to aid in the compliance and control of program areas; and will be required to attend all training as required by NAC 284, Nevada P.O.S.T., and the TA.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, psychology, business administration or closely related field and three years of professional investigative, law enforcement, or program related experience where standard investigative and enforcement techniques were utilized to make program compliance determinations, enforcement of state and federal laws, preparation of detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions, penalties or criminal prosecution. Work experience may be obtained in law enforcement, investigative, regulatory, or comparable setting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as outlined above; OR one year of experience as a Compliance/Enforcement Investigator III in Nevada State service. Special Notes Incumbents carry firearms in the performance of their duties and must maintain a quarterly qualifying score of 70 or better with a firearm. Incumbents may be required to operate an authorized emergency vehicle. Incumbents in the Compliance/Enforcement Investigator II, III, Supervisory Compliance/ Enforcement Investigator and Chief Investigator, Compliance/Enforcement classes must maintain Nevada POST Category II certification as a condition of continuing employment. Position may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on standby or call back status. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Applicants must submit to a background, medical, physical agility, polygraph and psychological evaluation prior to employment. Pursuant to NAC 289.110 applicants must meet minimum standards for appointment prior to employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. Additional Position Criteria Graduation from a Category II Peace Officer academy approved by the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST). You must attach your current CAT II certificate in order to receive credit. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
