The Position Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents provides counseling, case management, direct clinical services, and behavioral and human services to youth. This position conducts or participates in treatment planning by attending treatment team meetings in which the youth's goals are determined and appropriate strategies and plans are developed and modified as necessary, coordinates and integrates services among members of the treatment team, and monitors treatment plans and evaluates effectiveness. Incumbents reviews youth charts, discusses youth treatment at case staffing, makes case presentations, makes individual and standardized assessments, integrates and analyzes information from all available sources, and documents quality of care and ensures information is available to other members of the treatment team by completing required forms and reports and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and requirements of the agency.
PRTF North serve children between 11-17 years of age. Youth served are designated as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED). Mental Health Counselors provide individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based treatment practices and complete assessments, person-centered treatment plans, and Prior Authorizations Requests (PAR) for services. In addition, Mental Health Counselors act as the Primary Behavioral Health Provider for assigned youth and coordinate Child and Family Team meetings, referrals, discharge planning, and overall youth clinical needs. The Mental Health Counselor will need to be familiar with the behavior modification model used in the treatment facility and work collaboratively with facility staff and nurses to meet youth needs. Clinical experience with children and/or adolescents is preferred. This position requires licensure in clinical fields of MFT, CPC, or LCSW or must be licensed eligible at time of hire and in an internship within 90 days of hire. Mental Health Counselors will also agree to work a variable work schedule to accommodate the needs of the youth and families to be seen outside of school/work hours. This position will work four 10-hour days as assigned or five 8-hour days which may include some evening hours. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a Master's degree and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
