The Position Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.
This position is located in the Administrative Services Division of the Department of Administration in Carson City. The Administrative Services Division provides fiscal and administrative support to the Department of Administration's twelve divisions, as well as a variety of other state agencies, offices, boards and commissions. The incumbent will work with project managers to publish Requests for Quotes or Requests for Proposals; gathering/defining/clarifying scopes of services and minimum qualifications; performing budget verification and coordinating with Budget Analysts for corresponding Work Programs; facilitating contract language reviews, contract approval by the Board of Examiners (as required) and contract execution; and ensuring that procurements comply with State, and Federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
