    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

    The Highway Patrol Division (NHP) is recruiting to fill vacancies in the Warrants Unit located in the Elko office. Incumbents are responsible for entering, maintaining, and verifying all NHP warrants issued by Nevada Courts and arranging in-state transportation and out of State extradition. These duties require extensive phone skills, use of the Microsoft Office Suite, and other data entry programs. Accurate typing skills and 10 key are essential. The selected employee must be certified in NCIC/NCJIS within the first 6 months of employment and will be provided by NHP. The Warrants Unit operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and shifts are based on seniority with employees currently working four 10-hour days. The chosen candidate is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
