DescriptionVacancy is in the Hartford Police Department (HPD). Under supervision, performs difficult clerical work involving the review, classification and coding of information from a variety of police, health, personnel or finance records in support of manual and automated management information systems. Reviews, classifies and codes information from a variety of police, health, personnel or finance records in accordance with pre-determined criteria. Assists in the preparation of periodic and special studies and reports; maintains files of all related records. This is a 1716 union position. The hours of work are 40 per week. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe examination will consist of rating your training and experience as contained on your application. The examination may also include a written test, an oral test, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The test is designed to measure:
Knowledge of:- Methods of preparing work for computer processing.
- General office practices and procedures.
Skill in:- Operation of a Keypunch/Verifier machine and sorter.
Ability to:- Read and transcribe written and numerical data rapidly and accurately.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Prepare and maintain working files and production records.
Qualifications Open to all applicants who meet the following qualifications: One (1) year clerical experience affording knowledge of data processing operations.
If selected, you will be required to pass a physical examination administered by a City physician, a drug and alcohol screening, and an in-depth background check, including criminal. If appointed, you will serve up to 12 months of probation. This examination and employment process are subject to all federal, state, and municipal laws, rules and regulations.
