The Position
Compliance/Audit Investigators perform investigative and auditing functions to monitor compliance and detect violations of federal and/or State laws or regulations pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area such as securities, Medicaid, mortgage lending, or workers' compensation. Investigators allocated to this series do not require P.O.S.T. certification.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will be located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) in our Field Audit Office in Carson City. The incumbent will be responsible for resolving in-state and out-of-state wage protests/blocked claims in accordance with the requirements of the Employment Security Investigator's Manual and Division standards. They will handle Special Assignment Investigations involving unregistered employers and worker misclassification issues by conducting in-person field visits and preparing comprehensive reports. Reports will include case histories, detailed narratives of the findings based on the evidence gathered, recommendations with regards to employer action and establishment of claimant's wages, and audit recommendations. Other duties include recommending levy assessments, demand of payment, filing of judgments, serving Administrative Subpoenas, and attending appeals hearings held due to enforcement of NRS/NAC chapter 612. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university business or public administration, business management, accounting, or related field and two years of professional experience in an investigative, auditing or professional program-related position which required the application of state and federal laws, policy and procedure in making program compliance determinations; preparing detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions or penalties or changes in management practices, policy and procedure; or recommending criminal prosecution; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience, two of which were in a professional investigative, auditing or professional program-related position which required the application of state and/or federal laws, policy and procedure in making program compliance determinations; preparing detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions or penalties or changes in management practices, policy and procedure; or recommending criminal prosecution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR two years of experience as a Compliance/Audit Investigator I in Nevada State service. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
