Glimpse of the Job
The Lineworker Instructor will conduct a wide range of high voltage, electric power line technician training courses as well as general and technical safety classes for the Electrical Power Program. Through hands-on classroom and field training, the instructor will utilize skill and knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. This position will use a variety of media to present course material to lead participants to succeed in completing course objectives. The instructor will build positive customer relationships to promote and build the program. Must be skilled and qualified in most aspects of electric power distribution system construction and maintenance in both an aerial and underground environment, and have experience in a live (i.e., high voltage) environment using both live line tools and rubber gloving techniques.
This position will report to the Utilities Training Coordinator.
What You Need- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four years of experience as a journeyman level lineman.
- One year of adult education or training experience, which may include on-the-job training.
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree and two years of experience as a journeyman level lineman or a bachelor's degree equivalent to the related field experience. Must also have one year of adult education or training experience, which may include on-the-job training.

As part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium and home to the National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center, TEEX has been leading homeland security training since 1998.
The major TEEX programs include fire and rescue, infrastructure and safety, law enforcement, economic and workforce development, and homeland security. As a member of The Texas A&M University System, TEEX is unique in its ability to access a broad range of emerging research and technical expertise. Beginning with course design and development all the way through hands-on instruction and national certification testing, TEEX delivers comprehensive training through both classroom and hands-on instruction and as online courses. Hosting services for online courses, technical assistance and technology validation, and bilingual training and translation services also are available.
By placing safety and well-being above all and by focusing on prevention and response, TEEX has become a comprehensive training provider through more than 80 years of extension training. Working with other agencies and encouraging involvement has led to better fire safety and emergency response, cleaner drinking water, better roads and infrastructure, improved homeland security, safer workplaces, heightened public safety and security, new therapeutics manufacturing and the evolution of cybersecurity.
Through innovative programs and adaptive outreach, TEEX services are created to train the people who expand the security, occupational and economic development of Texas and beyond.
