Examples of Duties- Repairs body and paint damage to the interior and exterior of the light rail vehicles
- Removes vehicle parts such as headlights to perform repairs on the damaged areas
- Uses Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment to repair damage
- Mixes paints, matches colors, and paints vehicle surfaces with high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns
- Responds to emergency body repair and maintenance requirements of rail vehicles
- Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out
Minimum Qualifications- 2 year's experience in paint and body repair of cars, trucks, or rail vehicles and six months' welding experience
- Successful completion of a full time training program from an accredited school in paint and body repair may be substituted for an equivalent amount of actual work experience
- Valid California Class C driver's license

Abilites- Perform repair and painting to a variety of rail vehicle body surfaces

- Lift and move objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Tolerate exposure to noise, unpleasant odors, and outdoor work at night and in all types of weather
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
Special Conditions- Must comply with all California Occupational Safety & Health Act (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear "including but not limited" to respirators and/or hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
- Must be able to work on any one of three shifts and weekends
- May be exposed to weather, chemical, electrical, and physical hazards when performing duties
- Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
