FIRE Foundry ABOUT THE POSITIONThe FIRE Foundry is seeking a dynamic group of interns for the Student Intern- FIRE Foundry positions. The positions will focus on education and outreach, volunteer events, surveying, mapping and more. The interns will work on a variety of projects with a collaboration of leadership.
The position is temporary/part-time (hours vary per week depending on the various projects) beginning October 2025 through April 2026.
Some duties and responsibilities include: - Working with leadership to plan and create education materials and/or community events.
- Working with leadership to map and survey fire roads and other sites.
ABOUT YOUWe are looking for someone who has an interest working in the fire service and is a self-starter
with a passion for educating and engaging with communities to enhance fire safety.
In addition, the highly qualified candidate has: - Experience as a FIRE Foundry recruit and/or MCFD seasonal.
- The ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Eagerness to gain knowledge and understanding of wildfire safety and defensible space.
This job class requires travel between various County and business-related locations. Employees who drive on County business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid California driver's license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the County, including review of a recent DMV history. Use of a personal vehicle is required. Incumbent will be reimbursed for mileage at the standard IRS rate for 2025.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must be:
- Enrolled at a college or university, or vocational curriculum or within one year of having graduated, or
- A participant in a supervised program to meet licensure requirements of the State of California.
Additional minimum qualifications may apply depending upon the internship.
