    Job Announcement

    The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Assistant (part-time, temporary, non-benefited). This position serves at the discretion of the department director.

    Work Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 4:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

    Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

    Who we are looking for

    Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. The ideal candidate has an outgoing personality, a positive attitude, and can establish priorities and manage multiple tasks. Possess the ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team. Is physically able to clean exercise equipment, sweep, vacuum, and/or mop the fitness center floors, launder cleaning clothes, tidy locker rooms and exercise studios, and enforce all facility policies. Team members will greet and check in all of the group exercise class participants as part of their shift tasks.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Some High School; and

    • 1 year of experience in a recreation environment; and

    • A First Aid/CPR Certification within 90 days of employment; and

    • A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; or

    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Ability and desire to work on the fitness floor, cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
    • Proficiency with technical skills related to tablets and computers.
    • CPR/AED First Aid certifications upon hire

    The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. Certain positions within the city are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or volunteer opportunity. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
