    Summary

    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
    The Finance Department/Tax Office is responsible for the collection of property taxes, dog licensing, and the collection of transient room tax revenue in the unincorporated area of the County. The department also receipts in all revenue for land sales, LID’s, and invoices billed throughout the County.

    ABOUT THE JOB:
    This is an on-call seasonal position supporting the Tax Office. The position will start in October and ending towards the last week of November. This position is responsible for processing tax payments and entering data and numerical information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Process tax payments; receives, reviews, and processes financial documents.
    • Researches return mail.
    • Performs basic administrative duties in accordance with County procedures and policy, including data entry, record keeping, preparing and processing a variety of documents, and maintaining files; duties may vary according to job assignment.
    • Performs general office duties related to typing, making copies, filing, processing and distributing mail.
    • Entering data and numerical information into a computer system with speed and accuracy, and maintaining electronic records, files, and databases.

    What You Will Bring:
    Knowledge of or experience with:
    • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
    • Basic operations, procedures, rules and regulations of the Tax Office, as assigned.
    • Record keeping procedures.
    Skill In:
    • Attention to detail.
    • Operate modern office equipment such as computer, scanner, copier, 10-key and telephone.
    • Ability to perform business math, compile data and prepare reports.
    • Working effectively in a team environment towards a common goal and essential deadlines.

    Compensation

    $23.5353 to $31.5398 per hour. There are no County benefits.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
    • AND two (2) years of administrative support experience; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.


    Necessary Special Requirements

    The employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). These screenings must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
