    The Position

    Napa County is seeking an experienced Social Worker Supervisor I/II professional to join the Child Welfare Services Division of the Health and Human Services Agency. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

    The Division of Child Welfare is composed of a specialized set of services that strengthen the ability of families to protect and care for their own children, minimize harm to children and youth, and ensure timely permanency planning. The services we provide are intended to stabilize the family situation and strengthen the family's capacity to care for their children. When safety is not possible within the family, services focus on the child's need for a stable, permanent home as quickly as possible.

    Social Worker Supervisor I/II supervises a group of social workers; reviews staff recommendations for public assistance and related services; makes decisions of difficult case problems; trains staff and maintains high standards of social work practice; and conducts studies of and provide social service for selected cases and programs. Employees in this class plan, organize and direct the work of social service staff providing the most advanced social services; and perform related work as required.

    The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies up to one year. There is currently 1 (one) regular full-time vacancy. Vacancies may be filled at either the I or II level depending on education and experience. Being bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

    Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary increases and Wintertime Off:
    • 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2025
    • 32.0 hour of Winter time Off

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Experience and Education:
    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

    Social Worker Supervisor I ($53.34 - $63.66)
    Experience :
    Two years of experience as a Social Service Worker II or equivalent classes in a California county welfare department.

    And

    Education:

    Equivalent to graduation from college.



    Social Worker Supervisor II ($66.36 - $79.54)
    Experience :
    One year of experience performing duties comparable to those of Social Worker III or Social Worker IV class.

    AND

    Education:
    Master's degree in social work or a Master's degree from a two year counseling program.

    Definition: Qualifying master's degrees from a two year counseling program are those which include a course of study with emphasis in vocational rehabilitation, family or marriage counseling, gerontology, or a closely related field. Qualifying two year counseling degree programs must have included an internship or supervised field work and completion of approximately 45 semester or 67 quarter units of graduate level courses. Completion of all of the requirements for a Marriage, Family, Child Counseling (MFCC) license program may be substituted upon submission of verifying proof.

    License or Certificate :*
    Possession of a valid driver's license.

    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

    Only the most qualified candidates from the oral panel exam will be placed on the eligibility list and may be considered to fill positions for up to one year.
