About the Role:The Finance and Administration Section seeks up to 2 highly organized and detail-oriented Grant Administrators with excellent communication skills to join our team. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including leading the development of grant applications and managing grant award acceptance, reporting, and close-out. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, exercise sound judgement and time management, and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills. They will be expected to manage federal, state, local and foundation grants, and coordinate grant reporting with Business & Finance Officers and Project Managers. The ideal candidates will enjoy working as part of a team, take pride in holding themselves accountable for their work, and have a passion for making a difference for the benefit of King County communities.

The Water & Land Resources Division (WLRD) Finance & Administration Section (F&A) serves as the hub of WLRD’s budget development and financial management. It also serves a key role in strategic planning and performance management. The F&A Team of thirty staff includes the Grant Unit’s 3-person team led by the Grant Supervisor. The Unit is responsible for seeking ~$100 million in grants annually and then managing the entire grant lifecycle of those grants that are awarded.
As key members of the WLRD F&A Grant Unit, the Grant Administrators will perform a range of grant administration and monitoring functions to assist with grantmaking, grant-seeking, grant management, and grant closeout. The position provides leadership to Division staff on all grant functions and requires experience working as part of a team, strong organizational and communication skills, and keen attention to detail. In addition, Grant Administrators resolve issues through direct communication with grantor agencies and develop resources for improving the speed and volume of grant program activity. Prior experience with grant management, audit readiness, and the Uniform Guidance for federally funded awards (2 CFR 200) is required.

- Assist with collection of grant documentation from grant recipients, subrecipients, and contractors and ensure timely submission of grant reports in collaboration with Business & Finance Officers and Project/Program Managers.
- Identify and report compliance issues and violations of contract/grant agreement provisions, policies, and procedures.
- Compile and maintain trackers with key information about each grant to facilitate portfolio-wide reporting; and compile and review programmatic data for tracking and to analyze the results/outcomes of WLRD grants.
- Assist with grant closeout and maintain grant files and communication records to ensure audit readiness.
- Assist with periodic site visits/desk reviews (part of internal audits/reviews).
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring: - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Political Science, Public Administration, OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of progressively responsible grant experience with one or more years involving federal grants.
- Effectively plans, organizes, and prioritizes work independently and in a team environment, often with the stress of conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills combined with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- At least three years of experience editing the written work of others for accuracy, flow and brevity as well as punctuation and grammar.
- Familiarity with grant management principles, practices, and the Federal Uniform Guidance.

- Experience with internal controls and familiarity with audit principles, practices, and readiness.
- Experience with software, including Oracle EBS; customer relationship management (CRM) databases; and the expanded suite of Microsoft 365 products, including Power BI.
Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:- Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically weekly. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department’s vision of Green Where We Work.
- Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamster’s Local 117 Professional & Technical and Administrative Employees.
