The purpose of the positions is to provide program management, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of programs: Youth Education (which includes after-school, early childhood, camps, and family programs), Classes/Workshops, and the Latino/a/e Artist Access Program. The positions will coordinate youth and/or adult, as well as all-ages family friendly activities for the Center’s special events and workshops specializing in Mexican American, Latino/a/e, and Native American cultural arts.
Job Description:Purpose:Under general supervision, lead, develop and performs tasks in the development of cultural arts programs.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Conducts need assessments and recommends operating procedures for programs, services and activities.
- Implements, monitors, evaluate, and improves programs and activities, workshops, and special events.
- Designs and produces promotional materials. Performs routine administrative operations.
- Develops, registers, schedules and conducts guided tours, workshops, demonstrations and other events
- Maintains and cares for day-to-day management of facilities, collections, exhibits, records, material assets
- Assists in monitoring, updating and improving the facilities, collections, and equipment. Assists colleagues in the management and care of their assigned programs.
- Recommends purchases or deaccessions to existing collections.
- Receives fees, issue receipts, and accounts for all money
- Coordinates with other organizations to implement programs and activities and solicit donations.
- Provides participants and the general public with information
- Develops, compiles and monitors program budgets and data for reports,.
- Orders, issues, receives, and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies

Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in related field plus one (1) year of experience in programming cultural arts programs.
Experience may substitute for education up to two (2) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:None.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating cultural arts education programs and curriculum that demonstrate knowledge of and relevancy to Latin American, Mexican American, and diverse communities.
- Experience recruiting, hiring, training and overseeing temporary or part-time staff, contract workers, instructors and/or volunteers.
- Experience adapting arts-based curriculum and teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles, needs, and developmental abilities.
- Experience working at a public facility, educational non-profit or institution, and/or cultural center.
- Ability to fluently communicate (reading, writing, speaking) in English and Spanish
- Ability to travel to more than one work location.

Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB-MACC) is dedicated to the preservation, creation, presentation, and promotion of the cultural arts of Mexican Americans and Latino/a/e cultures. The Center is a resource for the community and visitors to learn and participate in classes and programs that will foster a meaningful understanding and appreciation of not only Mexican American, but also Native American, Chicano, and other Latino/a/e cultures. The programs and educational curriculum include areas of visual art, theatre, dance, literature, music, language arts, and multi-media.
The positions will work under the direction and administrative guidance of the Culture & Arts Education Manager, who reports to the Culture and Educational Programs Division Manager. The purpose of the positions is to provide program management, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of programs: Youth Education (which includes after-school, early childhood, camps, and family programs), Classes/Workshops, and the Latino/a/e Artist Access Program. Hours Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.
May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.
Travel:If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
