Community Services Liaison vacancies related to this unprecedented natural disaster.
Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.
During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.
Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Community Services Liaison. DEFINITION:This position is responsible for establishing, planning, coordinating, implementing and maintaining an effective relationship between the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the communities served.
CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:Positions allocable to this class have responsibility for providing staff support and serving as a liaison between the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the community served. The incumbent must possess the knowledge and ability to deal tactfully and effectively with civilian and sworn employees of the Fire Department, organized groups, and individual citizens as well as the ability to exercise appropriate judgment in releasing information and maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
Essential Job Functions- Acts as a liaison between the Fire Department and the community.
- Reports to emergency incidents (e.g., 2nd-alarm fire, incidents requiring occupancy support, etc.).
- Communicates the value of the Los Angeles County Fire Department to the communities it serves.
- Analyzes information on a variety of subjects (e.g., call volume, response times, incident history, etc.) relevant to Fire Department operations.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships.
- Maintains a knowledge and awareness of various contracts and agreements (e.g., city services, fire services, etc.).
- Coordinates public education programs and events (e.g., Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); Ready, Set, Go!; Hands-Only CPR; etc.).
RequirementsSELECTION REQUIREMENTS:Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university -AND- two (2) years of community/public relations experience within or working with a government agency at the level of Administrative Assistant III. **
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

**Experience at the level of Administrative Assistant III is defined as defines, analyzes, and makes recommendations for the solution of highly complex operating, budgetary and financing, and other management problems, and participates in the implementation of their solution.
