Utility Manager

Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, Construction Division located at 4721 Coal Mine Road
Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Performs administrative and professional work managing a division or a critical administrative business function within the department.
• Provides senior management level supporting in a variety of areas including the planning, design, direction and overall management of a division of the department and may serve as acting senior leadership when necessary.
• Supervises a wide variety of administrative matters and operational issues.
• Applies sound management practices in the formation, modification, improvement and implementation of departmental operational policies and regulations.
• Executes programs fully with almost complete independence and is responsible for the use of considerable initiative and independent judgment within the framework of established policies.
• Work is reviewed by senior leadership through conferences, observations and evaluation of reports and results obtained.

Qualifications

REQUIRES eight years of experience in public or private sector programs and four years of progressive administrative and supervisory experience. Preference will be given to candidates with large project management or program experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
