RoleYavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technology Unit Manager to lead a dedicated team of IT professionals.
In this position you will be managing a highly qualified team of systems engineers and service desk personnel. This role will be focused on leading the team to provide an exceptional customer service experience to our county departments. You will be working closely with our customers to understand their IT related business needs and find innovative, secure, and efficient solutions to their problems.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proven management skills, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments while driving continuous improvement in systems, applications, and infrastructure.

Major Duties, Responsibilities- Enforces and monitors compliance with IT policies and procedures.
- Prepares and monitors budget for the assigned IT business unit.
- Interfaces with county department customers and determines solutions meeting best practices standards.
- Participates in budgeting, departmental policy development/maintenance, and quality improvement activities for the organization.
- Assists senior management in developing strategic goals, standards, protocols, and procedures.
- Participates in the evaluation of new software, hardware, and systems.
- Prepares requests for proposals (RFP) and reviews submitted proposals.
- Supervises assigned staff and manages multiple concurrent work assignments.
- Directs the work of and manage staff of assigned unit.
- Participates in interviewing and the selection of new employees.
- Provides training and instruction and evaluates ongoing training needs.
- Assigns tasks, reviews work and prepares employee performance evaluations.
- Provides input regarding employee transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Serves as the point of contact and subject matter expert for IT system related projects with internal customers and outside vendors, including the coordination of contracted IT consultants.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or closely related field.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT management, staff development, organizational budgeting, personnel management, and/or related field(s). An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
