    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    • Preference given for degrees in Geography, GIS, Data Analytics, Computer Science, STEM, or related fields
    • One (1) to (3) years of experience as a GIS Technician, GIS Analyst or similar position preferred
    • Documented experience using ArcGIS products, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Office
    • Degrees in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, STEM, or related fields may be substituted for one (1) year of experience
    • Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) Certification preferred
    • Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license
    • Must pass motor vehicle records (MVR) check
    • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
    • Must be able to obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within 60 days of hire.


    This position is in the Information Technology Department with the Town of Prosper, Texas, and is under the general direction of the Data and GIS Manager.

    The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst I is a fully-trained practitioner who possesses full functional knowledge of the assigned specialty, may provide administrative support, and will frequently function independently. This position will prioritize core functions of the GIS department (ad hoc requests, cartographic products, and data maintenance) to preserve service level agreements and provide excellent customer service throughout the organization. Supports the Data and GIS Manager in implementing/maintaining spatial infrastructure, participates in building/maintaining automations, and encourages GIS use throughout the organization.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Data entry and maintenance as required
    • Data capture utilizing GPS equipment and ArcGIS field/mobile applications
    • Creates and maintains ArcGIS Online (AGO) / ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal) configurable applications:
      • Web App Builder (WAB), Experience Builder (ExB), ArcGIS Dashboards
    • Configures apps for field data collection with GPS equipment:
      • FieldMaps, Survey123, Collector
    • Provides cartographic and analytics products as requested
    • Provides application support for web maps, dashboards, and analytic solutions
    • Provides explanation of technical matters to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion
    • Meets with staff from other Town departments to identify their needs and conduct end-user training
    • Prepares written and oral reports on programs, analyses, and studies, as needed
    • Maintains proficiency and expertise in the latest GIS industry developments
    • Maintains professional engagement to qualify for GISP certification
    • Identifies, inquires, researches, and uses independent judgment regarding problems that are difficult to identify or where facts may be insufficient and misleading
    • Conducts data gathering, analysis, and creates products that help business units decipher data significance for intelligent decision-making using a variety of tools and software packages
    • Performs other related duties as assigned
