DescriptionUnder immediate supervision, performs routine and complex radiographic procedures in X-ray and Fluoroscopy.
Radiologic Technologist I is the entry level class of this series performing all standard and routine radiographic procedures (X-ray and Fluoroscopy) and may be trained in more complex procedures and specialized functional areas after one year of experience.
EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.
Radiologic Technologist I is represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

Examples Of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs radiographic examinations of varying difficulty by positioning the patient and programming proper exposure factors and table movements.
- Selects proper techniques to produce quality images.
- Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Completes portable radiographic work across all Surgical, Emergency, and inpatient units as required.
- Assists with imaging referrals and orders, including obtaining authorization, scheduling, and follow up on results.
- May provide outreach to patients due for imaging results, such as mammograms.
- Performs mandated quality controls and record results.
- Administers CPR to patients in emergencies.
- Shadows other modalities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Typical QualificationsEducation/ExperienceAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy permit issued by the State of California Department of Public Health and must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.
ORCalifornia Department of Public Health -Radiologic Branch Limited X-ray Technician Permit, including digital radiography, chest, extremities, and torso-skeletal.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- Bilingual, English/Spanish
- Must be willing and able to work at various clinics throughout Ventura County as needed.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license.
- Must have a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification by first day of employment.
DESIRED- X-ray Technician Dual Energy Absorptiometry Limited Permit

- Applicable X-ray and imaging equipment and techniques.
- Regional and gross anatomy and physiology of the human body.
- Trans-sectional anatomy of the human body.
- X-ray occupational radiation hazards.
Skills and Abilities to:
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Deal tactfully with patients and physicians.
- Administering first aid and CPR.
- Safely and effectively operate a motorized vehicle
- Positioning patients and making sharp, clear images of designated areas.
