The City of Marina is located on the beautiful central coast in Monterey Bay and is the fastest growing city in the Monterey Bay region. Marina’s 22,500 residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life, with some of the most affordable housing on the coast along with all the sights and attractions of Monterey Bay, Carmel by the Sea and the Big Sur coast.

Marina is ideally suited for those who enjoy recreational and outdoor activities, hiking and biking opportunities or walking along its trail system or miles of undeveloped coastline and scenic trails. Marina and Fort Ord Dunes State Beaches, Fort Ord National Monument, Marina Dunes Natural Preserve along with an abundance of nearby activities such as golf, biking, kayaking, hang-gliding, paragliding, whale watching, and horseback riding make Marina an ideal place to live. Nearby points of interest include the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Laguna Seca Race venue, Big Sur, Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Pebble Beach.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about local government, willing to work hard and is committed to working with the City Manager, City Council, and the community to improve the City’s quality of life. The City is transforming with new housing developments, new commercial and retail developments, new city parks and an indoor sports center and aquatics center under construction, downtown revitalization developments and cutting-edge new businesses and manufacturing expansion such as the worldwide aviation industry leader in electric vehicle takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft Joby Aviation.

The City Manager is seeking a well experienced and dedicated local government professional with a firsthand understanding of city operations, city leadership, and city council and staff relations. The Assistant City Manager will play a key role in supporting the City Manager and City Council, in moving forward the City’s vision and leading city-wide administrative operations in this transformational time of the City.  This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a fun, hard-working and close-knit city team, working with a unified City Council and a diverse, and vibrant community developing an exciting future for the City of Marina.

The expected annual salary range for the Assistant City Manager is $180,000 to $220,000; placement within the range is dependent on qualifications and experience. The City also offers an excellent benefits package. If you are interested in this outstanding opportunity, please visit our website at www.bobmurrayassoc.com to apply online.
