Full-time position available with the Housing and Community Development Department, Unhoused Solutions Division, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $4,619/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Responsibilities
- Conducts street-outreach and engagement to homeless persons who are sleeping in shelters, on the streets, in encampments or other places not meant for human habitation (i.e., streets, under bridges or automobiles) through face-to-face intervention.
- Collaborates with the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness and members of the Continuum of Care (CoC) to aid in successfully housing individuals. This will include work in identifying individuals on Veteran and Chronic By-Name-Lists.
- Conducts initial housing screenings using the VI-SPDAT; also connecting the most appropriate level of service by assessing acuity and prioritizing need.
- Provides light-touch referral-based case management to individuals. This involves being a secondary support for the agency who is handling referrals made through this position
- Seeks and refer supportive services based on specificity of need. Services may include but are not limited to assistance with housing support and connections, accessing identification and eligibility documents, food, clothing, linkage to income supports, linkage to physical and mental health treatment.
- Works closely with Housing and Community Development leadership to share information gathered regarding services available for the houseless, the means through which to access those services, and contacts which may be helpful in efforts to ensure clients are well served.
- Develops effective working relations and cooperate with other agencies
- Participates in property owner or property manager engagement
- Engages with housing authority, local school districts houseless services programs, legal services, mental health, domestic violence resources, substance treatment facilities, mainstream private and public agencies
- Interacts face to face with clients to discuss the action steps they've taken toward meeting the timelines agreed upon in their service plans; support and encourage participants in achieving these goals to maintain compliance with the program requirements
- Records outreach and client information accurately and complete all necessary forms and produce statistical reports by entering all required information using the Continuum of Care's data entry system (CaseWorthy)
- Attends scheduled Continuum of Care case manager and outreach meetings
- Participates in annual client celebrations and program success recognition events as well as the twice annual Point in Time Count event
- Creates and distribute promotional materials outlining area program services
- Adheres to professional standards as outlined by any protocols, rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in business or public sector administration to include at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience with at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
