    Pay Range: $26.38 - Mid $34.30 Hourly. Annual: $54,879.00 - $71,343.00

    ****Signing bonus: $2,000 ****

    Workdays & Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5 pm. Occasional overtime may be required.

    The Flood Warning Analyst will perform field work and desktop tasks to advance the reliability and resilience of the City’s Flood Warning System which consists of flood and weather monitoring stations located throughout the City (see www.fortworthtexas.gov/floodwarning for more information). There are currently 84 “master” stations that monitor flood and weather parameters, along with over 200 roadside remote flashers that are controlled by the “masters.” Field work will include installing, maintaining, and repairing infra-structure (pole-cabinet assemblies), low voltage (12V DC or less) electronics, and telemetry equipment.

    Typical outdoor work consists of diagnosing problems reading tables from data loggers, trouble shooting and repairing electronic and radio telemetry equipment, performing scheduled maintenance and calibration tests on sensors. The applicant should have excellent organizational and logistic skills with ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Flood Warning group is embarking on initiatives ranging from flood forecasting to integrating flood warning with traffic management systems to improve road safety. Applicants with a scientific background who enjoy working outdoors may find a good fit for this job posting.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration, or related and no previous experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two (2) or more years-experience assembling and repairing electronic equipment.
    • One or more years programming experience, including but not limited to SDI-12 language connecting sensors to dataloggers.
    • Two or more years data processing experience with excel spreadsheets or similar software.
    • Must pass an in-person knowledge and skills written test administered after the interview.

    job responsibilities include:
    • Monitoring the health of system components through server software (Contrail) reports,
    • Assembling and analyzing data in excel to diagnose problems,
    • Inputting maintenance records in the VueWorks work order database,
    • Fields visits to perform inspections and repairs on equipment.
    • Writing bid solicitations for procurement of equipment and professional services, writing technical reports, and contract management.
    • Working outdoors performing repairs, including on ladders, while hoisted from bucket trucks, in boots and waders within creeks.
    • Organizing equipment and tools prior to field deployment with ability to deploy on short notice
    • Performing regularly scheduled preventative maintenance functions on all masters and remote flashers at least once every six months.
    • Performing emergency repairs and maintenance during critical failure of equipment such as knock-downs, sensor and battery failures.

    Working Conditions

    This position requires a high level of safety awareness. The applicant will be working outdoors 2-3 days in a typical work week. Working conditions outdoors will be on ladders or while hoisted from bucket trucks repairing equipment on utility poles. Conduit and cable work for sensors will be performed on culvert headwalls and in creeks. Occasional heavy lifting (not more than about 30 pounds) will be required. Applicants will need to be familiar with use of tools to assemble infra-structure components such as poles, cabinets and masts and guide cables through conduits, and testing and diagnosing electrical circuits with multimeters. Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.

    Medical Program
