    The Position

    Community Health Nurses provide professional nursing services requiring licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and/or Registered Nurse in clinics, homes, schools and other community settings.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health; Community Health Nursing (CHS) is recruiting for a Community Health Nurse 2 in Tonopah, NV. Community Health Nurses provide professional nursing care to clients in a community setting. Incumbents provide reproductive health services for men and women, identify, and treat communicable disease, conduct health screenings, and analyze and interpret test results. Community Health Nurses conduct infant and child health assessments and counseling, perform physical and developmental screenings and administer immunizations. Incumbents consult and collaborate with organizations and agencies in the community to encourage health, wellness, and disease prevention through a variety of settings. The successful candidate will also participate in hospital preparedness, attend Board of health and Local Emergency Preparedness Meetings as a community partner.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one year of which was in a public health setting; OR one year of experience as a Community Health Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education, licensure and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
