Job/Department Summary: Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Media Relations Coordinator supports the strategic objectives of the University Communications department by supporting campus media relations efforts, both responsive and proactive, frequently serves as a media spokesperson. As a member of the University Communications team, the incumbent drafts press releases and talking points, drafts media publicity plans, tracks and analyzes media analytics, prepares weekly reports on media and publicity, and supports overall content production.
Required Education and Experience: The qualifications for this position are normally obtained through a college degree, which includes relevant coursework in the field, and three years of related professional or technical experience, such as organizational communications, media, marketing, or public relations.
Preferences: Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Bilingual
- 3 years of related professional experience in public relations, communications, or marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or marketing
Time Base: Full-time
Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
CSU Classification Salary Range: $49,752 - $90,000 per year.
