Sterile Processing Technician I who performs a variety of sterile processing procedures ranging from decontaminating, sterilizing, inspecting, testing, packing, and issuing medical supplies, equipment and instruments.

ARROWHEAD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empire's newest medical school.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes drug testing, fingerprinting, and verification of employment history.
Availability: Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, n ight shift, weekend, on-call and call-back.
Physical: Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to fifty (50) lbs. manually or with assistance.
Environment: Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.
Minimum RequirementsCandidates must qualify under one of the following options: OPTION 1: Six (6) months experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care hospital. Experience must have been obtained with the past two (2) years.
OPTION 2: Provisional Certification* through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any
one of the following:
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA)
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
- Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency.
*NOTE: Provisional Certification means you have successfully passed the certification examination and are now in process of obtaining the required 400 hours of hands-on experience required for full certification.
