The International Student and Scholar Advisor assists F-1 students as a Designated School Official (DSO) with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) post admission/pre-arrival, during studies, and after graduation in all aspects of university life including academic/ personal advising, employment options, immigration reporting and processing, and federal agency requirements (SSA, DMV, IRS) to ensure F-1 students maintain their immigration status in accord with DHS and Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) rules and regulations. Students from non-partner universities can also study on the general Non-Degree Student Program. The International Student and Scholar Advisor is responsible for assisting J-1 students in maintaining their immigration status and ensuring the university remains in compliance with SEVIS and US Department of State regulations. The International Student and Scholar Advisor assists in the operation of the International Research Scholar Program. Duties include liaising with Academic Affairs, department chairs, school deans, faculty, administrative and services offices and the US State Department. Major duties and responsibilities: Leadership Provide strategic leadership and direction to enhance Black Students’ overall success and well-being within the institution. Responsible for achieving the goals and objectives critical to the program or department. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners, to create an inclusive and supportive campus environment. Participate in campus community, and off-campus community meetings, trainings, and events to enhance the work of the Black Student Programs (BSP) as needed. University Library As an essential department within the Division of Academic Affairs, the University Library supports student learning and success and fosters faculty productivity by providing efficient access to resources, information, and data and offers a full suite of public services including research support, instructional services, and public programming for students, faculty, staff, and the general community in support of the University's instruction, research, and public service missions. The library serves as one of the key public spaces on campus for students to work, study, and collaborate. Library Technology Services Unit Library Technology Services (LTS) is a key unit within the University Library and is responsible for supporting and enhancing key systems used by library employees, campus faculty, students, and designated campus affiliates. The LTS team (which currently consists of three staff members and student employees) works collaboratively to adapt library systems to the ever-changing technological environment, develop tools and experiences that are user-centered, lead ongoing development of the infrastructure, and maintain flexible and appropriate technologies, data, and workflows. Position Details Reporting to the University Library Dean, the Systems Librarian provides primary support and oversight for library systems, information technology services, and digital initiatives for the University Library at Cal Poly Pomona.
