Generates, aggregates and analyzes, for dean and department chair review, a variety of class schedule reports for the upcoming academic year and instructional periods using specialized class scheduling software; integrates multiple factors which may include expected enrollments, classroom times and space, availability of full- and part-time faculty within budgets, lecture/lab requirements, availability of prerequisites and other course configuration variables to draft schedules for Dean and department Chair review; receives and verifies scheduling information from the Dean and incorporates appropriate changes; ensures accuracy of schedules, adequate enrollments, instructor workload and payroll data. Calculates full and adjunct faculty load and office hours and obtains signatures for load contracts; prepares, reconciles and maintains the department faculty payroll, including auditing time logs, calculating sick leave and monitoring faculty and adjunct faculty hours for compliance with contracts and overload rules; computes and categorizes pay according to departmental/program billing accounts; ensures accurate usage of funding codes and calculates departmental/program billing. Coordinates administrative processes for staff and faculty hiring including submitting academic requisitions, assisting the selection committee with materials and scheduling and preparing hiring paperwork; prepares and maintains confidential personnel records and files; coordinates paperwork and tracking of sabbatical and other paid leaves. Coordinates the faculty evaluation process for tenured and adjunct faculty following established processes and procedures; creates and maintains sensitive tracking spreadsheets and personnel files; creates lists and notifies faculty to be evaluated; coordinates committee meetings, timelines, observations and documentation distribution and collection; coordinates the distribution and collection of student surveys; routes evaluations for signature. Organizes, maintains and updates confidential, specialized and technical files, documents and records including department personnel records; creates and maintains electronic and physical filing systems. Creates and maintains spreadsheets and databases; reviews, submits and tracks requests for payments and purchase orders in accordance with District policies and procedures; assists in ordering textbooks, equipment and materials; reviews travel and conference expense forms; calculates budget usage and fund percentages; prepares budget variance reports and spending forecasts for management review; tracks multiple funding sources; may participate in grant administration functions including basic grant writing, collecting program data and generating performance reports. Maintains and coordinates the Dean's and a variety of departmental calendars; makes meeting arrangements including preparation and posting of agendas and notices; prepares and distributes agendas and supporting documents to appropriate parties; takes and transcribes meeting minutes; may serve as recording secretary to a committee; prepares and distributes follow-up letters and documentation; assists with setup and cleanup for special events; contacts vendors for food orders, supplies and audio-visual equipment; handles other meeting logistics. Provides administrative, logistical and technical support to faculty; independently performs research for faculty on specific student/department issues and programs and resolves routine issues; assists with ordering textbooks, equipment and materials. About the Position: The Health Science Department at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in public health at the Assistant Professor level. Area of focus within public health is open, but we are especially interested in applicants whose research, teaching, and service demonstrates expertise in health equity, health disparities, and/or epidemiology. Applicants’ work examining public health issues may do so from a population health, community health, institutional health, health administration, healthcare organization, and/or health management perspective. The Health Science BS program is one of the largest undergraduate degree programs at CSUCI and offers a curriculum designed to provide students a broad overview of health and healthcare, preparing them both for direct entrance into health-related careers or for graduate training in health professions. About the Position: Extension Programs collaborate with University departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Program Developer has a growth-oriented lead role in the vital mission of this unit to provide self-supported Cal State Fullerton degree and post-baccalaureate programs in strategic collaboration with academic and other partners to interested and qualified students. Primary responsibilities of this position include program development and management, budget development and oversight, outreach, recruitment, and retention. The Program Developer will work collaboratively with academic and administrative campus partners to develop and administer programs and ensure student success. The Program Developer will be well informed concerning CSU policies/Executive Orders which govern all self-support programs within the CSU. The Program Developer will be knowledgeable regarding strategic planning, business development, new program development, program management and assessment. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning. Three years of experience planning classes and curriculum for higher or extended education programs including developing resources, budgets, and marketing plans, as well as serving as a community liaison. Knowledge of the procedures and practices of educational program and curriculum planning and development. Knowledge of the processes required to plan and construct academic programs and course outlines. Ability to determine needs for new or revised programs, plan hours, and develop course outlines with instructors. Ability to locate instructors and assist them in understanding and completing contract arrangements. Ability to develop budgets and analyze costs. Working knowledge of marketing principles with the ability to implement promotional strategies and utilize social media. Ability to represent the CSU system to the community and develop working relationships. Ability to manage logistics and analyze the cost information and statistics of providing classes. Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills to recruit for and work with faculty, staff, advisory boards, representatives of business and industry, and international communities. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to effectively multi-task, organize and plan work assignments, events, and responsibilities while meeting deadlines. Experience with financial management to work with self-sustaining budgets, grow revenue, contain costs, and manage resources. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred. A minimum of three years successful experience developing and managing university academic programs including developing curriculum, resources, budgets, and marketing plans, as well as serving as a community liaison. Experience developing and managing university academic programs in a self-support environment greatly preferred. Strong operational background essential. Excellent critical thinking skills, including problem solving, decision making and conceptualizing. Demonstrated successful experience in business development, project management and assessment. Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, change and adapt appropriately to a broad range of situations. Skilled in building alliances, partnering, and working as a positive, motivating force for collaboration within an organization. Successful experience providing guidance and direction to colleagues and partners. Comprehensive knowledge of CSUF infrastructure, policies, and procedures desirable.
