Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located in Contact, Nevada at the Contact Maintenance Station. Housing is available for selected candidate. This position is part of crew C322, a 3-person crew responsible for general highway maintenance, winter operations, betterments, and emergency incident response. This crew covers 92 lane miles. Special Requirements This position may require working alternate shifts and outside of traditional business hours. The hours of this position are subject to change based on the needs of the appointing authority. Typical shifts are four 10-hour or five 8-hour shifts, but may include some variation depending on the specific needs of the department. This position requires an applicant be at least 18 years of age upon application. If selected, proof of being at least 18 years of age will be required. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment. A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria In order to meet the needs of specialized disciplines within the highway maintenance field, certified equipment proficiency or specialized skills may be required for Highway Maintenance Worker III's and IV's and will be identified at the time of recruitment. A valid Class A or B commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
