    PURPOSE:

    The Student Affairs and Persistence Manager reports directly to the Strategic Projects Manager, with general oversight from the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs and as directed performs a wide range of high-level project management functions of a highly sensitive and confidential nature. These duties include, but are not limited to: managing critical internal and external communication and leading persistence initiatives to ensure enrollment targets are met for the university. The Student Affairs and Persistence Manager is a critical role designed to support the Vice President in persistence operations and planning, entrepreneurial innovation, and enrollment outcomes. The Student Affairs and Persistence Manager will act as a key advisor, strategist, and project manager, ensuring that the University agenda of the Vice President and their direct reports plan, operate and serve students efficiently and effectively to meet Divisional and University goals that advance the institution.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following :

    Persistence Planning and Implementation: Develop and execute persistence initiatives that align with the mission and goals of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. Make decisions based on research and analysis to support persistence strategies. Lead retention task forces and committees. Develop and maintain student persistence plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

    Project Management: Lead and manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Strategic Projects Manager and the Vice President. Develop project plans and ensure timely completion of projects. Helps coordinate cross- functional teams to achieve Divisional project goals. Updates the Vice President regarding Divisional and external issues and activities. Manages persistence initiatives and strategies in collaboration with Divisional management and VP leadership

    Event Management and Analysis. The Student Affairs and Persistence Manager will collaborate with campus or Divisional partners, and at times oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of a wide range of events, including persistence events, workshops, and student engagement activities. This includes developing event concepts and ensuring all events align with the goals of the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. Conduct thorough post-event evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of each event, gathering feedback from attendees, stakeholders, and team members. This includes development of actionable insights and recommendations for future events, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance the overall event planning process to ensure continuous improvement and greater success in objectives.

    Operational Efficiency & Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and oversee process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the persistence efforts across the university. Act as a liaison between the Office of the Vice President and internal and external stakeholders. Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments and with external partners for persistence gains and Divisional progress on goals.

    Other Functions :
    Participates in university task forces and special projects as required. Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

    Three years of experience working in higher education. Strong understanding of higher education and appreciation for student affairs and enrollment.

    Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation. Excellent professional, initiative, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. High level of discretion and confidentiality

    Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the CSUMB Vision Statement and the core values of mutual respect, collaboration and service orientation, multiculturalism and diversity, community service and institutional excellence. Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population and performing community services.

    Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system; Microsoft Office Professional Suite, and Google mail and calendaring programs.

The position is required to participate in training at the direction of the Clery Director and must also promptly report allegations of reportable crimes according to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, its accompanying regulations; the California State Education Code, Chapter 15.5, of the Donahoe Higher Education Act, Section 67380; and the California State University system-wide policy, Code EO 1107.
    • May require occasional evenings and/or weekend work .

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

    Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. The position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
