    Job Description

    Join Our Team and Make an Impact in Municipal Finance!

    Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion for numbers and financial integrity? As an Accounting Technician , you will play a critical role in supporting the city’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and transparency in accounting and reporting. This is your opportunity to contribute meaningfully to your community while growing your career in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

    What You’ll Do:
    • Streamline processes: Manage accounts payable and procurement card transactions, while supporting procurement operations.
    • Ensure compliance: Collect W-9 forms from vendors and assist in preparing 1099s for accurate financial reporting.
    • Manage financial data: Process cash collections for accounts receivable, hotel occupancy taxes, and miscellaneous receipts, as well as monthly billings and accounts receivable.
    • Support accounting accuracy: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
    • Contribute to big-picture goals: Assist with preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the city’s annual operating budget.
    • Handle inquiries: Research and compile data for open records requests while preparing detailed financial reports.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Education: Specialized training in accounting principles and procedures, in addition to skills typically gained through high school education.
    • Experience: At least two years in a similar position, providing a strong foundation in relevant accounting practices.
    • Professional Requirements: Ability to be bonded, ensuring trust and accountability.
