    Summary

    The City of Kalispell is seeking a Fire Chief for this rapidly growing community of 28,500 tucked among the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful northwest Montana. As the county seat of Flathead County, Kalispell serves as the regional hub for approximately 140,000 people. This region is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and wealth of year-round outdoor recreation opportunities. Kalispell is a full-service city operating with a 2025 budget of $180 million and a team of 244 FTEs.    

     

    THE FIRE DEPARTMENT 

    Formed in 1892, the Kalispell Fire Department is an all-hazard Fire and EMS department serving the City of Kalispell with a 2025 budget of $8.5 million and a staffing of 47.4 FTEs (with an additional 15 authorized when the next station is constructed). In 2023, the Department responded to 4,309 calls out of two stations and provides Advanced Life Support and ambulance transport services with Firefighter/Paramedics.
