All regular full-time employees and those employees who work 30–39 hours per week are eligible for all City of Fort Worth Benefits. Part-time employees who work 20–29 hours per week are eligible for dental, basic life insurance, supplemental life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 457 Deferred Compensation plan and other voluntary benefits. Medical Program The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company. The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s primary health care services that are 100% completely free and unlimited. Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city. The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA). • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans. • Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included. Vacation Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually 6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business. Holidays Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays. Wellness Program The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.

    Job Description

    Pay Range: $22.90/hr. - $28.62/hr.

    Workdays & Hours: Full time, 40 hours. Flexibility is required, evenings, weekends, holidays, and have scheduled days off on days other than Saturday and Sunday. Shift Differential will be paid for all hours worked within the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

    A Skilled Trades Technician II position is available with The City of Fort Worth, Public Events Department / Will Rogers Memorial Center. This position plays a very important role in making sure our venues are safe. This position is available at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

    This position qualifies for the following incentive which is separate from the base pay:

    ***$2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment. ***

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Possession of or ability to obtain a high school diploma/GED within one year of employment and no required experience
    • Two (2) years of related skilled trades experience
    • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
    • Must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Background Check

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Appropriate certifications related to specialized field
    • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavier equipment

    The Skilled Trades Technician II job responsibilities include:
    • Develops work plans and schedules for the provision of services in the assigned area.
    • Maintains appropriate records, writes reports and prepares correspondence as assigned.
    • Establishes and follows a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment. Inspects cleans tools daily. Orders and maintains supplies according to established City and departmental procedures.
    • Performs related duties outside of the area of specialization as required by specific jobs, which may include hand dry walling, painting surfaces, repairing concrete forms, assisting with electrical repairs, performing welding tasks, and other duties as required.
    • Employs safe work practices and follows safety guidelines.
    • Plans and participates in all phases of rough and finished wiring work involved in the installation of conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards and switches required by new or existing electrical systems.
    • Tests, locates and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment.
    • Repairs and replaces motors, pumps, generators and other fixtures or appliances.
    • Maintains and installs heating systems and air conditioning systems in assigned area. Repairs systems as necessary. Oversees electric and electronic temperature control systems. Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment
    • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils, and workspace restrictions.

    Physical Demand

    Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
